SCAN offers a routine vision care benefit through EyeMed® Vision Care for all plans.

Individual plans vary, but in general, the routine vision benefit includes:

  • Eye exams. One exam every 12 months.
  • Coverage for eyewear. Every 12 or 24 months.

Q: Can I choose contact lenses instead of eyeglasses?

Yes, your vision benefits cover either contact lenses or eyeglasses.

Q: What should I do if I have a serious eye condition or need eye surgery?

For medical eye issues, see your primary care doctor. Your doctor may refer you to a specialist so you can get the medical care you need.

Q: Will I get an EyeMed ID card?

No, just show your SCAN member ID card when visiting a contracted EyeMed doctor.

Q: If my lenses or frames become lost or broken, are replacements included as part of the benefit?

No, replacement lenses or frames are not included as part of your vision benefit.

Q: How can I find an eye doctor near me?

To find an optometrist or optician near you, visit the EyeMed website or call EyeMed at 1-844-226-2850 (TTY: 711). Their hours are Monday through Saturday, from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, their hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
