CMS 4.5-Star Quality Rating, Investment in Community Services and Employee Engagement Among Factors Contributing to Recognition

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Nov. 29, 2018—SCAN Health Plan®, one of the nation’s largest not-for profit Medicare Advantage plans, has been named a Silver winner in the “Nonprofit Organization of the Year” category in the eighth-annual Best in Biz Awards. The only business awards program judged by independent panels of prominent writers and editors from top-tier publications selected SCAN in recognition of its outstanding achievements in delivering and funding high- quality programs and services designed to help seniors remain healthy and independent, exemplary health plan benefits and recognized commitment to employee engagement.

The “Nonprofit Organization of the Year” category celebrates organizations’ success, which can include innovative services or offerings, employee satisfaction and overall company excellence.

SCAN Health Plan, which serves over 195,000 Californians, received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars* for 2019 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for the second year in a row. In October of this year, U.S. News & World Report included SCAN Health Plan among its Best Insurance Companies for Medicare Advantage 2019.

Each year, the Best in Biz Awards program considers the most innovative startup companies to the most recognizable global brands. The eighth-annual program garnered close to 700 entries from an array of public and private companies of all sizes, hailing from a variety of geographic regions and industries in the U.S. and Canada.

The 2018 judging panel included writers from Associated Press, Barron’s, Consumer Affairs, Forbes, Healthcare Innovation News, Inc., New York Times and more.
