Connect to Care

Do you have a new doctor with SCAN? It’s a good idea to schedule a get-to-know-you appointment so that you can meet your doctor and their staff and to let your doctor know about any health concerns you have.

If you’re staying with your current doctor, be sure to see them at least once a year for an annual exam and to keep up with your preventive care and screenings. The earlier in the year, the better!

And remember: You can change your doctor at any time, for any reason. If you’d like to switch to a different doctor at the same medical group, you can make the change yourself in your SCAN online member account. Otherwise, SCAN Member Services can help you switch doctors and medical groups.

Look up any medications you take regularly in the SCAN Formulary. This is the list of prescription drugs covered by your plan.

Any special instructions for your medications will be noted in the Formulary. For example, “PA” stands for “prior authorization,” which means your doctor will need to get the medication approved first—good to know before you need a refill!

Remember, for most SCAN plans, you will pay less at a SCAN Preferred pharmacy. To find locations near you, go to our pharmacy directory page, enter your zip code, then check the box for Preferred Pharmacies.
