Lab/Imaging

Questions about needed lab work or imaging? Find answers here.

Your SCAN plan includes coverage for most lab work, such as blood and urine testing, as well as x-rays and other types of imaging when ordered by your doctor.

Your doctor should provide you with information on which labs and imaging facilities are used by their medical group. Also, be sure to ask your doctor if they’ll share the results with you by mail, by phone, or if you need a follow-up appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Labwork and Imaging

Q. Where do I get my lab work done?

If you need to have lab work done, your doctor will direct you to the lab used by your medical group. There may be more than one lab location that you can choose from. Generally, the results for your tests will be sent to your doctor. Ask your doctor if he or she will share the results with you by mail, by phone, or if you need a follow-up appointment.

Q. Where can I find my lab or imaging results?

Please check with your referring doctor for your lab and imaging results. If your medical group has a patient portal or you visited a Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp lab, the results may also be available online. You can reach out to SCAN HEALTHtech if you need help creating an online account.

Q. What lab and imaging centers are in my network?

This will vary by medical group. The doctor who ordered the tests will refer you to an in-network lab or imaging center. Please check with his or her staff if you’re unsure where to go. Or you can call your medical group’s patient services line to verify which labs and imaging centers are in network.

Q. What if I want a different lab or imaging center than I was referred to?

Sometimes there will be more than one location for you to choose from. Call your doctor’s office and ask if there is another lab in network that is more conveniently located or better meets your preferences. Or contact your medical group’s patient services line.

Q. What is my copay for labs?

If the lab is in network and you are being referred by a doctor in your medical group, in most of our plans, there will be a $0 copay. Always refer to your Evidence of Coverage or call SCAN Member Services to confirm.

Q. What is my copay for imaging?

Imaging coverage varies by plan. Please see your Evidence of Coverage or reach out to SCAN Member Services to find out what your copay will be.
