Three Vaccination Clinics Open to Community on First Come First Serve Basis

LONG BEACH, Calif.—September 9, 2021—Independence at Home (IAH), the community service division of SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, will host three flu clinics for older adults in Los Angeles County. This is the first time in its history that IAH is offering flu vaccines to the community at large.

“With the COVID pandemic still going strong, it is vital for older, vulnerable adults to be immunized against flu in order to avoid a ‘twindemic,’” said Denise Likar, vice president of Independence at Home, a SCAN community service.

Flu vaccines are available at three of our community partners’ headquarters on a first-come, first served basis for individuals 55 and older. Appointments are not needed. The three clinics are taking place at the following times and locations across Los Angeles County:

  • Friday, September 10 @ 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Antelope Valley Partners for Health, 44226 10th St. W, Lancaster, CA 93534
  • Thursday, September 16 @ 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Salvation Army Long Beach, 3000 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90807
  • Wednesday, October 6 @ 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: ONEgeneration, 18255 Victory Blvd., Reseda, CA 91355

In addition to the three flu clinics, IAH has joined forces with the City of Long Beach’s Health & Human Services Department for a virtual educational presentation about the flu vaccine. On Tuesday, September 14, from 11 – 11:30 a.m. (English) and 1 – 1:30 p.m. (Spanish), this presentation will detail how people can best protect themselves against the flu. These free Zoom sessions can be accessed here on September 14– no registration is necessary.

“We are grateful to our community partner organizations for collaborating with us on these clinics to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community are healthy and protected during the pandemic and beyond,” said Likar.
