Qigong Classes to Begin on July 10 at SCAN Health Education Center (VENTURA, Calif.) — A summer session of Qigong classes begins Thursday, July 10, at the SCAN Health Education Center in Ventura. The classes will run 12 weeks and will be offered Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. Qigong (pronounced: “chee gung”) is an ancient Chinese practice that includes bending, stretching and breathing for better health and peace of mind. Each class is one hour and will be taught by Don Fiore, a certified tai chi and Qigong instructor. According to Fiore, Qigong can help: Lower blood pressure Increase circulation Reduce stress Aid in digestion Improve muscle and joint flexibility Strengthen balance Increase energy and productivity Enhance clarity and peace of mind This program is available free to participants age 60 years or older who have not previously taken this class at SCAN.
