SCAN Health Plan and Brown & Toland Physicians Announce Expanded Managed Care Contract

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) — SCAN Health Plan and Brown & Toland Physicians have expanded their contractual relationship, effective August 1. Under the new contract, Brown & Toland will assume responsibility for managing both physician and hospital services for SCAN members.
The new contract will be seamless to SCAN members, who will continue to have access to Brown & Toland’s large network of independent physicians as well as the following hospitals: California Pacific Medical Center (California, Davies and Pacific campuses as well as St. Luke’s Hospital), Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center.
“This new contract leverages Brown & Toland’s strong infrastructure in managing and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care,” said Karen Sugano, SCAN’s general manager in Northern California. “SCAN has more than three decades of experience in developing innovative programs and services that support healthy aging, and this expanded relationship provides a great opportunity for our organizations to work together to develop programs that would make a significant, positive impact in the lives of many of our members/patients.”
