By now you’ve received your first prescription drug usage
statement also called an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) in
the mail. And a number of you immediately called Member
Services with questions. We understand why. This is the first
time we are sending you this new Medicare-legislated form.

What this statement is supposed to do is let you know how
much you’ve paid to-date on medications as well as how
much SCAN has paid on your medications. SCAN members
in Los Angeles County may have noticed that their benefit
limit was listed incorrectly on their March statement – it was
corrected on their April statement.

The EOB statement is NOT a bill. It’s for your information
only. No action is needed on your part. In fact, most of you
will be able to easily track the amount you’ve spent on your
prescription drugs on your own. If you do have questions
about this statement though, please continue to call on
Member Services at 1-800-559-3500.
