(LONG BEACH, CA – January 18, 2007) — SCAN Health Plan, one of California’s
fastest-growing Medicare Advantage Plans, has appointed Roy Swackhamer its chief
information officer, effective immediately. Swackhamer brings to SCAN more than
three decades of experience in information technology (IT) as well as
significant executive management experience.

"Roy’s depth of knowledge in how to maximize the potential of information
technology for the benefit of both our members and our company will be a huge
asset for SCAN,” said SCAN’s CEO David Schmidt. “Healthcare and IT are both
changing rapidly, and we are fortunate to have someone of Roy’s caliber join our
executive management team.”

Swackhamer most recently served as vice president and chief information officer
of CNF, Inc. (now Con-way, Inc.) and Menlo Worldwide. He also served as chief
information officer for PacifiCorp Electric Operations, vice president of
business systems development for U.S. BanCorp and IT director for Nike, Inc. He
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in math from Central Washington University.

SCAN is one of California’s fastest-growing senior-focused health plans,
currently serving more than 95,000 Medicare-eligible individuals in Kern, Los
Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. In
addition, the plan was recently awarded a three-year contract by the Arizona
Health Care Cost Containment System to provide long-term care services in
