(PHOENIX, AZ – July 7, 2010) — SCAN Health Plan Arizona, a nonprofit Medicare Advantage plan, declared the “High Rollers” team the winners of the second annual Wii Bowling Championship hosted by SCAN at the SCAN Connections Resource Center in Phoenix. The “High Rollers,” a four-person team from the Senior Opportunities West Senior Center, competed against the “Destroyers” from the Devonshire Senior Center.
Instead of waxed wooden lanes and heavy balls, participants used Nintendo Wii remote controls for a lively competition between teams from the two local city of Phoenix senior centers. The rules of the tournament were the same as regular bowling.
“Now in its second year, participants enjoyed a day of good-natured competitive fun mixed with a little exercise,” said Tom Lescault, president of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. “The SCAN Health Plan Arizona Wii Bowling Championship is a great way for us to partner with local senior centers and the City of Phoenix in ways that encourage seniors to live healthy and independent lives.”
More than 60 attendees cheered throughout the event. Once again, Danny Davis from KOY-1230AM emceed the event and assisted Tom in handing out the trophies.
For more than 30 years, SCAN Health Plan has been focusing on the unique needs of people with Medicare and today is the fourth-largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage plan in the United States.
