Healthcare Executive Richard Peitzmeier Returns to Phoenix
as Regional Sales Director of SCAN Health Plan Arizona
(PHOENIX, AZ – September 8, 2008) — SCAN Health Plan Arizona announced today that healthcare veteran Richard Peitzmeier has joined the company as regional sales director. SCAN currently offers a health plan for Medicare and Medicaid-eligible individuals in the greater Phoenix area and also provides long-term care services to individuals enrolled in the state’s long-term care system in Maricopa County.

Peitzmeier most recently served as vice president at Baltimore-based Bravo Health, a multi-state Medicare Advantage and prescription drug health plan. In joining SCAN, Peitzmeier returns to Maricopa County where he previously spent nine years at PacifiCare of Arizona in various leadership positions including director of sales for the company’s Secure Horizons Medicare Advantage Plan. He also served as corporate vice president of new business development at Inspiris of Arizona (formerly Geriatrix), a healthcare management company focused on improving the quality of life for the frail elderly population.

“Richard’s roots in the Phoenix area run deep, as does his understanding of the local Medicare market,” said Thomas Lescault, president of SCAN’s Arizona operations. “His knowledge of this community is very valuable in helping assure that SCAN continues to meet the health care needs of our current and future members.”

A graduate of Arizona State University, Peitzmeier has served with many locally based organizations including the Phoenix Area Agency on Aging, Governor’s Conference on Aging and the Arizona Town Hall. He also served as chairman of the board of directors of the Older Adult Service and Information Systems (OASIS).

SCAN Health Plan Arizona offers a Medicare Special Needs Plan for beneficiaries also enrolled in the Arizona Long Term Care System. SCAN Long Term Care offers services to nearly 2,000 beneficiaries who are enrolled in the ALTCS program in Maricopa County. Both are part of SCAN Health Plan, the fourth largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage Plan in the U.S that for more than 30 years has been focusing on the unique needs of people with Medicare and Medicaid. In addition to Arizona, SCAN currently serves more than 105,000 members in Southern California, making it one of California’s fastest-growing health plans.
