(LONG BEACH, CA – June 7, 2006) — SCAN Health Plan, one of Southern California’s
fastest-growing Medicare Advantage plans, has named Doug Jaques as general
counsel.

“We are pleased to have someone with Doug’s extensive experience in healthcare
law join our leadership team,” said David Schmidt, chief executive officer of

Jaques brings a wealth of legal knowledge and experience to SCAN. He was most
recently a partner in the health law department at McDermott Will & Emery LLP
where he provided counsel to a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit
healthcare clients.

An active member of the Long Beach community, Jaques is currently serving as
chairman of the Jonathan Jaques Children’s Cancer Center Advisory Board at
Miller Children’s Hospital, chairman of the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center
Medical Affairs Committee, and recently served as vice chairman of the Long
Beach Memorial Medical Center board of directors. He is also a member of the
Miller Children’s Hospital Advisory Board.

Jaques earned a Juris Doctor and an M.B.A. in finance/accounting at the
University of California, Los Angeles. He earned his undergraduate degree in
economics at Stanford University.
