(LONG BEACH, CA – November 5, 2009) — SCAN Health Plan, one of Southern California’s fastest-growing Medicare Advantage plans, has appointed Izaro Elorduy as community relations manager serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties. In this role Elorduy will work with local community organizations to help seniors better understand the complexities of Medicare, Medi-Cal and their health care options.

A dedicated advocate for seniors, Elorduy has worked with a variety of agencies that specialize in providing services to older adults, including Errekalde (Home for the Elderly) in Spain, Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center, and Independence at Home. Most recently she served as a geriatric health specialist at SCAN.
Elorduy holds a master’s degree in gerontology from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Universidad de Deusto, Spain. As a graduate student she worked with the Alzheimer’s Association helping families with care consultations and conducting community education events, and she currently serves as program committee chair for the association’s Greater East Los Angeles regional office. Elorduy is bilingual and biliterate in English/Spanish.
