SCAN Health Plan's Dennis Eder Named CFO of the Year
(LONG BEACH, CA – October 3, 2008) — Dennis Eder, chief financial officer of SCAN Health Plan, has been named nonprofit “CFO of the Year” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. This prestigious award is presented annually to a financial professional in the Los Angeles region for outstanding performance in the role of corporate financial steward.

Eder joined SCAN in 2003, and has played a key role in the health plan’s success. He helped lead the organization through a financial turnaround, implemented the company’s current investment program, and helped create and launch The SCAN Foundation, one of the nation’s largest foundations targeted at the needs of the elderly.

“We are very proud to have Dennis recognized as a leader in the Greater Los Angeles business community,” said David Schmidt, president and chief executive officer of SCAN Health Plan. “Dennis is a talented leader who shares a dedication to SCAN’s not-for-profit mission of serving seniors and helping seniors remain healthy, independent and active.”

Eder earned both a bachelor’s degree in history and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a Master of Arts in history from the University of Chicago. He is also a certified public accountant who previously served as president and chief executive officer of CareAmerica Health Plans in Woodland Hills, California.

For more than 30 years, SCAN Health Plan has been focusing on the unique needs of people with Medicare and today is the fourth largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage Plan in the United States. The company currently serves nearly 105,000 members in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura and Kern counties. In Arizona, SCAN offers a health plan for Medicare and Medicaid-eligible individuals and also provides long-term care services to individuals enrolled in the state’s long-term care system in Maricopa County. In 2009, SCAN will also offer an MAPD in Maricopa County. Further information may be obtained at www.scanhealthplan.com.
