SCAN Health Plan Arizona Named one of Area’s Best Places to Work by the
Phoenix Business Journal and BestCompaniesAZ, LLC
(PHOENIX, AZ – December 10, 2009) — The Phoenix Business Journal and BestCompaniesAZ, co-founders of the “Best Places to Work” competition, announced today that SCAN Health Plan Arizona has been named to the 2009 list in the medium-sized category. Companies were nominated by their employees, who provided extensive insight into employee life.

SCAN Health Plan Arizona was acknowledged for creating an enjoyable corporate culture and work environment that fosters personal and professional growth for its employees. “We are excited to be the highest-ranking managed care plan on the valley’s ‘Best Places to Work’ list this year,” said Tom Lescault, president of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. “At SCAN we take great pride in our corporate culture and emphasis on teamwork. Achieving this recognition underscores the passion our employees feel about SCAN and the difference we make in the lives of seniors every day.”

The “Best Places to Work” list, which was started in 2003, recognizes local companies who, through a third party-administered employee-satisfaction survey, rank their respective companies as being great places to work. The survey examines various aspects of the employee experience, including workplace environment, leadership direction, culture and management practices. Hundreds of businesses throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area were nominated. Employee feedback determined which are truly “Best Places to Work.”

The staff at SCAN Health Plan Arizona appreciates the organization’s open-door policy, dedicated co-workers and pleasant atmosphere. Among the employee-centric programs that the health plan offers its workforce are lunches with SCAN’s president, on-site fitness facility, yoga classes, a health advocate for employees and their family members, career-development training, and tuition reimbursement.

“SCAN provides a variety of programs which facilitate work-life balance for our employees and promote a fun, yet professional workplace. Our commitment to maintaining a positive and productive working environment motivates our employees and truly sets us apart from other employers,” said Misty Maddox, SCAN human resources representative. “Our employees particularly appreciate our ‘Ta-Da’ peer-to-peer recognition program, volunteer opportunities, incentives for health and wellness activities, and Wii bowling tournaments hosted for local senior centers.”

“Happy employees are willing to go the extra mile for the members,” said Lescault. “Our team really cares about our members, which shows in their exceptional customer service.”

The Dec. 11 edition of the Phoenix Business Journal will feature a complete list of winners, which also can be found on an exclusive Web site for the valley’s “Best Places to Work” – www.BestCompaniesAZ.com.
