SCAN Health Plan Arizona Second Annual Community Water Drive
Nets 19,000 Bottles of Water: A Thirsty Donation for Local Heat Relief Efforts
SCAN Health Plan Arizona Enlists Business Partners to Donate Bottled Water
(PHOENIX, AZ – August 27, 2010) — Dehydration is a serious concern during Arizona’s summer months, especially for seniors. For the second consecutive year, SCAN Health Plan Arizona challenged its business partners to a community water drive. Together ten local companies that serve the needs of seniors donated 19,000 cases of bottled water for local community organizations and senior centers.
Hundreds of cases of bottled water have been delivered to the Set Free Ministry, which has distributed water to the Heat Relief Network. Synergy Home Care was the top donor, contributing more than 7,800 bottles. Other organizations that donated bottled water include Professional HomeCare Services; Preferred Home Care; Good Neighbor Assisted Living Services, Inc.; Complete Comfort Care; Sonora Quest Laboratories; Comfort Keepers; Cypress HomeCare Solutions; and Advanced Senior Care Agency.
“The response to this year’s Community Water Drive was astounding, and for that we are so grateful to our many business partners,” said Tom Lescault, president of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. “SCAN had intended to match the donated water, bottle for bottle, but the response was so incredible that the Set Free Ministry requested that we provide pre-packaged food instead, which they will distribute to the Winter Respite Program.”
For more than 30 years, SCAN Health Plan has been focusing on the unique needs of people with Medicare and today is the fourth-largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage plan in the United States. SCAN serves nearly 130,000 members in California and Arizona. SCAN Health Plan Arizona was recently named one of the area’s best places to work by the Arizona Business Journal.
