2011 Arizona Senior Olympics

(PHOENIX, AZ – January 7, 2011) — SCAN Health Plan Arizona, a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan, announced it will be the presenting sponsor of the 2011 Arizona Senior Olympics (ASO).

“SCAN Health Plan and the Senior Olympics share the same goal of enhancing the lives of seniors,” said Dr. Marc Lato, medical director for SCAN Health Plan Arizona. “Senior health, camaraderie and advocacy are central to the missions of both organizations.”

Launched in1982 ASO offers workshops, clinics and competitions for seniors throughout the year. ASO’s programs are designed for all types of participants, from those just beginning to train or athletes looking to improve their performance. Competitions include golf tournaments, relay swim meets, track and field, archery, and more. The Arizona Senior Olympics are held each year and feature 142 events in 32 different sports. The 2011 games will be held Feb. 19 through March 13 at facilities throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
