SCAN Health Plan Appoints Community Relations Representative

to Northern California Service Area

(NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – August 4, 2010) — SCAN Health Plan has appointed Delena Burnett as its first community relations representative to serve Northern California. One of the fastest-growing health plans for people with Medicare, SCAN’s Northern California service area includes Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Joaquin and Santa Clara counties.

In this newly created role, Burnett will work with local community organizations to implement programs and activities that support the health and independence of seniors living in these communities.

A dedicated advocate for seniors, Burnett has worked at several agencies that specialize in providing services to older adults. She previously served as a health insurance specialist at On Lok Lifeways, a not-for-profit health plan serving seniors, and as a community health administrator for R & R Home Respite, a home health and respite provider offering rehabilitative services.

Burnett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley. She also completed an International Honors Program on health and community at Boston University. Burnett is bilingual (English/Spanish) and is also fluent in American Sign Language.
