
Grand Opening of Senior Resource Center
Planned for February 8
Community Invited to Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(February 2, 2006) — Ventura County seniors are invited to
celebrate the grand opening of SCAN Health Plan's Senior
Connections Resource Center on Wednesday, February 8 from

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include health presentations as
well as refreshments, drawings and giveaway prizes. The Resource
Center is located at 1001 Partridge Drive, Suite 200 in Ventura,
near the government center two blocks east of the Victoria and
Telephone intersection.

"Our goal has always been to help seniors remain healthy and
independent," said David Schmidt, chief executive officer of
SCAN Health Plan. "The opening of our first community resource
center in Southern California is an important extension of that
goal. We hope local seniors will take advantage of the
comprehensive, free resources that are available here."

Staffed by community resource specialists, Senior Connections
Resource Center is a place where seniors or their loved ones can
get help with finding the services they may need. In the relaxed
setting of the center, visitors can:
- Access information on health improvement and management;
- Connect to important resources in the community;
- Have free internet access to the Healthwise Knowledgebase;
- Attend presentations on health topics and healthful food samples generally on the first Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m.;
- Access weight and blood pressure self-management equipment;
- Obtain fall prevention information and attend fall prevention classes.
