(PHOENIX, AZ – April 12, 2011) — Healthcare executive Randy Stone has been named chief financial officer of SCAN Health Plan Arizona and SCAN Long-Term Care Arizona, effective immediately. Stone brings to SCAN more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience.

“We are pleased to have someone with Randy’s breadth of experience and proven leadership in healthcare assume this important role,” said Elizabeth Russell, chief executive officer of SCAN Health Plan Arizona and SCAN Long-Term Care Arizona. “We will be looking to Randy to play a key role in SCAN’s continued growth in the state and in our organization’s ability to provide products and services that enhance the health and peace of mind of local seniors and the physically disabled.”

Prior to joining SCAN, Stone served for ten years as chief financial officer of L.A. Care Health Plan in Los Angeles, the largest public healthcare agency in the U.S. servicing 850,000 low-income members and generating revenues exceeding $1 billion. Before that he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Unimed Management Company, a physician practice company consisting of seven separate medical groups servicing nearly 500,000 commercial and senior individuals.

Stone earned an MBA in accounting/finance and a bachelor’s degree in management and accounting, both from California State University, Long Beach.

SCAN has been serving the Arizona market since 2006 when it was awarded a contract by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System to provide long-term care services to low-income elderly and physically disabled Arizonans enrolled in the Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS) program in Maricopa County. In 2008 SCAN began offering a Medicare Advantage plan and now serves approximately 15,000 members in Maricopa and Pima counties.

For more than 30 years, SCAN Health Plan has been focusing on the unique needs of seniors and is now the country’s fourth largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plan. The company currently has nearly 130,000 members in California and Arizona. Further information may be obtained at scanhealthplan.com.
