SCAN Health Plan's Orange County Members to Pay Less in 2005
In response to the rising cost of healthcare for seniors,
SCAN to eliminate monthly premium
(LONG BEACH, CA - October 19, 2004) - SCAN Health Plan, which
serves nearly 13,000 seniors in Orange County, has announced that
it will eliminate its $20 monthly premium for Orange County
members effective January 1, 2005, pending Medicare approval.

"I am very pleased that for 2005 we are able to make healthcare
even more affordable for our members throughout Orange County,"
said David Schmidt, chief executive officer of SCAN Health Plan.
"As always, our goal is to provide our members with the best
possible value in benefits and services."

Also effective January 1, SCAN will discontinue the ScriptSave
pharmacy discount card. "This will help reduce confusion for
members since the new Medicare pharmacy discount card program now
provides even better savings on non-covered drugs," said Schmidt.

SCAN Health Plan, a leader in addressing senior healthcare needs,
currently serves seniors in most of Los Angeles, Orange,
Riverside and San Bernardino counties. In addition to providing
members such comprehensive health plan services as routine
physicals, hearing exams and prescription drug coverage, SCAN
also offers qualified members Independent Living Power®, a
collection of personal-care services that range from light
cleaning to transportation escorts. Further information may be
obtained at www.scanhealthplan.com.
