SCAN Health Plan Promotes Karen Sugano

to Vice President of Provider Services

(LONG BEACH, CA – January 29, 2009) — SCAN Health Plan, one of California’s fastest-growing Medicare Advantage Plans, has promoted Karen Sugano to vice president of provider services, effective immediately. Sugano previously served as director of provider services for the company.

In her new role, Sugano is responsible for leading the organization’s strategies and initiatives related to provider services, including the expansion of the new provider portal and deployment of software solutions for better servicing SCAN's contracted providers.

Sugano’s past experience includes eight years as vice president of network management with physician groups and IPAs in Ventura County. Immediately prior she worked for the law firm of Rosenberg and Kaplan. She holds a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
