Gives Seniors the “Straight Talk” About Medicare Coverage

Medicare Advantage Benefits to be Discussed at Free Community Forums

(PHOENIX, AZ – November 2, 2010) — Seniors in Maricopa and Pima counties are invited to attend free “Straight Talk” presentations where the leadership team for SCAN Health Plan Arizona will discuss healthcare options for seniors and answer questions about Medicare benefits. These educational seminars are designed to help seniors understand their options and make informed decisions about their healthcare. There is no charge to attend, but reservations are encouraged. Member services representatives are available from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., seven days a week.

SCAN’s Straight Talks are held each year to coincide with the Medicare annual enrollment period (also referred to as the Annual Election Period, or “AEP”), which this year runs from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31. During that time, seniors and others on Medicare may choose to switch their health plan or move from traditional Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan (or move back to traditional Medicare) with their new selections taking effect January 1, 2011.

Straight Talk forums will take place:

• Monday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mesa Convention Center in Mesa.
• Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sheraton Hotel Phoenix at 2620 W. Dunlap.
• Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Glendale Civic Center at 5750 West Glenn Drive.
• Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Airport Marriott at 1101 North 44th Street in Phoenix.
• Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Scottsdale Hilton at 6333 North Scottsdale Road.
• Thursday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Hotel Arizona at 181 W. Broadway in Tucson.
• Thursday, Nov. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel at 445 South Alvernon Way in Tucson.
• Friday, Nov. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Quail Creek Country Club at 2055 Quail Crossing Blvd. in Green Valley.
• Friday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Tucson East at 7600 E. Broadway Blvd. in Tucson.
