Andrew Allocco Joins SCAN Health Plan Board of Directors
(LONG BEACH, Calif. – May 24, 2011) — SCAN Health Plan announced today the appointment of healthcare executive Andrew Allocco to its board of directors. SCAN is the nation’s fourth largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plan serving seniors and the physically disabled in California and Arizona.
“As healthcare reform continues to unfold and the Medicare marketplace continues to evolve, Andy’s strategic vision and national perspective will be a great asset to our organization,” said Colleen Cain, SCAN Health Plan board chairperson. “Andy’s demonstrated ability in leading healthcare organizations through dramatic change will be vitally important as we continue to foster SCAN’s mission of supporting healthy and independent aging.”
Allocco brings to SCAN more than four decades of healthcare leadership experience. He most recently served as senior vice president of Provider Services for Aetna Inc. where he had national and international responsibility for network development of over 700,000 provider contracts and was accountable for $12 billion of medical claims costs. He previously held executive level positions at Wellpoint/Blue Cross of California, Blue Shield of California and Health Net.
Allocco is a graduate of UCLA with a master’s degree in public health and hospital administration. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wagner College in New York. He previously served on the boards of the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California, the Healthcare Association of Southern California, and the California Coalition of Health Care, among others.
